Mr.
Plamen Milanov was
born and currently resides in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He graduated from secondary
school (a sport college) in 1997. The same year he applied at Sofia
University for the subject Archaeology. He earned a bachelor degree
in Archaeology and History in 2003 and his masters degree in Prehistory in
2005. Mr. Milanov has been a part of numerous excavations of many
important sites: Tell Kozareva Mogila, Tell Slatina in the present city of
Sofia, a Thracian tumular necropolis near Vratsa, a Christian basilica in
ancient Dorustorum, a Hellenistic necropolis of Appolonia Pontica, to name
a few.
Some
of the dominant concentrations of his study have been: Neolithic and
Chalcolithic anthropomorphic plastic from Bulgaria, anthropomorphic
plastic from the culture Gradeshnitsa and anthropomorphic plastic from the
Sofia region. The subject of his diploma work was "Anthropomorphic
plastic from Tell Hotnitsa". The figurines from that site have
not been published up to that moment, so this work appears to be a
contribution to Bulgarian Prehistoric science. His current efforts
work with prehistoric art and his recent research is focused on
"Stone-copper age clay rattles – ways of interpretation", the
title of his next paper.
Along
with his scholastic degrees, Mr. Milanov possesses a degree to lead an
archaeological excavation work camp and is in the process of completing
his thesis for a doctorate in Archaeology. His love for prehistory
and early civilization is a perfect match for his beautiful historic
homeland and residency - Bulgaria! A land believed to be the origin
of civilization that later came to spread to the rest of the European
continent. |
