It was told by the original collector that this piece was dug from below
the ground and when found, had a charred interior surface but the
children of the collector inadvertently scrubbed this evidence clean in
an effort to "help". Supposedly, there is a similar specimen in a
nearby museum that also labels this as a fat lamp. |
