FAT LAMP

Ref #:  661

Type:  Fat Lamp?

Material:  Natural Limestone Formation?

Period:  Neolithic  8,000 - 4,000 years ago

Provenance:  Le Grand Pressigny, France

Measurement:  10.5 wide x 8.8 wide x 6.7 cm deep

Comments:  It was told by the original collector that this piece was dug from below the ground and when found, had a charred interior surface but the children of the collector inadvertently scrubbed this evidence clean in an effort to "help".  Supposedly, there is a similar specimen in a nearby museum that also labels this as a fat lamp.
